The Kansas City Rock’n Robo Rabbits did their hometown proud! After winning top honors – the Chairman’s Award – at the Western Missouri and Kansas Regional FIRST LEGO League Championship, the Robo Rabbits went on to represent Missouri and Kansas at the FIRST World Festival. There, they competed with the top 79 teams from 34 countries and most American states.
The Rock’n Robo Rabbits earned the First Place Inspiration Award for extraordinary outreach and community service efforts. With this honor, the Robo Rabbits placed in the top ten amongst 20,000 teams and over 200,000 kids from around the world.
The judges said the Robo Rabbits earned the Inspiration Award for sharing their love of science and math with people from around the world. When we asked the Robo Rabbits what the judges might mean, they said:
- We do tons of outreach to share our love of all things math and science.
- We put together a rock music video featuring the landmarks of our hometown – Kansas City – and took gift bags to every FLL team at World Festival, featuring the many wonderful regional specialties of our region. Together, we rocked World Festival!
- We look cute and cuddly with our perky, bunny ears and our fuzzy, bunny tails - but, inside, we are epic, guitar-playing, super geek rabbits ready to take the FLL mats by storm. Rock on!
- Our seven team members have 24 years of combined experience in FIRST robotics.
The Rabbits are looking forward to another rock'n year in the 2012 to 2013 season.
